KARA TUBBS
CERTIFIED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER
PUBLISHED BEST-SELLING AUTHOR
My name is Kara Tubbs, and I am thrilled to introduce my book, “Secrets of a Kindergarten Teacher.” It is a bestseller on Amazon with only five-star reviews! I am a certified elementary school teacher and have worked with kids in various capacities for over 20 years. This book is expected to stimulate discussions among teachers, administrators, and parents, as it reveals some of the hidden secrets that I witnessed while navigating the school system. It is a combination of humor and sorrow, but more importantly, it brings attention to serious issues our society faces. It is my personal journey of self-discovery that I share with readers. I believe the topic is of interest to millions of people. It is an easy-to-read book with a powerful message. While it covers many areas of concern, it also serves as a journey of self-discovery!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I was born and raised in Florida in a large Catholic family with three sisters and one brother. I spent the first few years of my education in a small private Christian school which laid a strong foundation for my religious life. This Protestant school gave me a strong understanding of the Bible and helped me develop a strong connection to God. I was later moved to a local K-8 Catholic school, and eventually to a co-ed Catholic high school.
I met my husband of 28 years in high school, and although he was not Catholic, he embraced the faith. While in college, he embarked on a one-year journey to convert to Catholicism. Upon the completion of my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from The University of Florida, we were married in a beautiful Catholic Church in downtown Tampa. We were blessed with three children who all attended the same Catholic school of my youth. At the time, I was working in the public school system but later found my way back to that little Catholic school that shaped my life so profoundly. I was able to serve in all three capacities: as a student, as a parent, and eventually as a teacher. I am forever grateful for Catholic education.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes love and dedication are not enough.Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2024
Kara Tubbs was able to tell of her experiences clearly but with great love for the teaching profession. Many of those experiences were heart wrenching, yet Tubbs remained committed and optimistic throughout her stint in public schools.
I found her book relatable. My public school teaching experience occurred in the 1970s, and I was teaching 13 year olds not kindergarteners. However, the dynamics in the schools was much the same. My emotions ran like those of Tubbs.
This is a book worth reading.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sad state of public educationReviewed in the United States on April 19, 2024
This book breaks your heart and makes you angry at the same time. At one time I was studying to be an elementary school teacher and did a 3 week stint at a summer school program. The lack of discipline and disrespect for the teacher was enough to make me immediately change my major. Years later I was a substitute teacher at the neighborhood Catholic school and it was an enjoyable and satisfying experience. The only consolation I can offer Kara is that her perseverance and caring did have a lasting effect on some of her students. This book is a reflection on our society and sadly, not a a very nice one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational and heartfelt….Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2024
As a former teacher, I found this book truly moving. An easy read for former teachers as well as those who see education in their future. What a great job the author does at telling stories with compassion for her calling. It is clear her love for children and that makes me smile!
